Some external factors such as climate or pollution, added to internal factors such as aging, bad habits and nutrition, have a significant impact on our hair and our skin.

However, we can naturally prevent them from deteriorating and improve their appearance.

In this article, we will discover together a simple oat and brewer’s yeast mask that will help you bring hydration, shine and youth to your hair and face.

What are the benefits of masks?

Despite the use of tonics and moisturizing lotions, the skin often needs an extra dose of nutrients,  as it is exposed to factors every day that damage it and cause it to age prematurely.

The masks allow us several minutes of relaxation, during which we can rest and let the pores of our skin absorb the nutrients of the applied ingredients.

The ideal is to prepare these masks at home,  rather than buying them, so that they are more natural and free of additives, and also because they are specific for our skin type.

Although some of the masks are for specific skin, others are good for all, like the one we present below.

Natural ingredients

The advantage of using natural ingredients is that we avoid other components that could be harmful to health, such as parabens, paraffins and other petroleum derivatives, etc.

The vein

Oats

Oats are an excellent cereal for health, as well as topically, thanks to its mucilage content.

This component is a soluble fiber with emollient properties, that is, it hydrates and protects the skin and hair, preventing them from drying out.

This feature is particularly suitable for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Oats contain many nutrients that revitalize skin and hair, including B vitamins, vitamin E and minerals such as zinc, iron, magnesium or calcium.

The shredded oat texture also allows for a gentle skin exfoliation  to eliminate dead cells that accumulate on the surface layer of the skin and give it a more aged and dull appearance .

Brewer’s yeast

Brewer’s yeast is an excellent health and beauty nutritional supplement that nourishes us inside and out.

It is rich in B vitamins and minerals (iron, chromium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, zinc, selenium).

  • This supplement is ideal for eliminating skin impurities and preventing acne, thanks to its sulfur content, which is a powerful cleanser.
  • Selenium acts as a great antioxidant to prevent cellular aging.

By consuming or applying applications based on brewer’s yeast, we will obtain more shine and hydration and, in the case of hair, we will help prevent hair loss and strengthen it from the root

Oat and brewer’s yeast mask

Brewer's yeast

The oat and brewer’s yeast mask is suitable for any skin type:  oily, dry, combination, mature, sensitive or with acne.

Thanks to these two ingredients, which are very balancing, purifying and emollient, we will be able to regulate the sebum of the skin, without drying or leaving spots on the face.

It is also suitable for any type of hair, since it regulates the production of sebum, obtaining hydration, shine and softness from the first application.

Ingredients

To prepare this oat and brewer’s yeast mask, we need the following doses:

  • 2 tablespoons of shredded oats (20 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of powdered brewer’s yeast (10 g)
  • Water (as needed)

If we wish, we can also add three drops of an essential oil of our choice (lavender, orange, mint, lemon, rose, cinnamon, etc.), to improve the relaxation and the qualities of the mask.

What do we have to do?

  • We will mix the shredded oats and the brewer’s yeast and then add the water little by little, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
  • The mask should not be too thick, as this would make application difficult. It doesn’t have to be too liquid either, because it would drip.

Application

When we apply the oat and brewer’s yeast mask, we must do it without rush, as if we relax and leave it on we will help improve its absorption.
