Some of you may be wondering what is the use of making it difficult to make a fabric softener at home when you can simply buy it ready to use. In fact, preparing it is really simple and has benefits that shouldn’t be ignored.

The recipe that we propose today is excellent for obtaining soft garments, with an intense color and free of stains. It is particularly recommended to enhance darker garments, but also to eliminate the typical sweat stains that spoil whites.

Unlike other similar products, this organic softener is also good for the washing machine, as it facilitates the elimination of limescale, soap residues and mold.

Because it does not contain harsh chemicals to the environment or skin, it is a great alternative for those with allergies or those with sensitive skin. As if all of this weren’t enough, it is also an excellent product for softening and leaving baby clothes looking like new.

It does not contain fragrances or harmful substances

While we often ignore it, many of the fragrances and chemicals in industrial fabric softeners can cause health problems. Although their aroma is very pleasant, it has been shown that, in some cases, they can worsen rhinitis and skin irritations.

As with all other commercial household cleaning products, most of their side effects are not immediately visible. Reactions can begin days or even weeks after coming into contact with these substances.

All of this indicates that these products contain phthalates, chemicals that help flavorings last longer. Despite this, according to some studies, these compounds cause various hormonal disorders in some animals. For these reasons, ecological alternatives are certainly more convenient from all points of view.

If you are convinced, we advise you to try this recipe to make an excellent homemade softener and to get all the best benefits.

This natural softener harnesses the properties of basic ingredients such as baking soda and white vinegar, often used for everything to do with natural cleansing. The active compounds of these two ingredients work together to obtain clean and brightly colored garments.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of water (500 ml)
  • 1 cup of vinegar (250 ml)
  • 1/3 cup of baking soda (66 g)
  • 6 drops of essential oil of your favorite aroma

First step

Dilute the cup of white vinegar in the two cups of water and pour everything into a bowl.

Second step

Carefully add the baking soda to the mixture a little at a time, trying not to spread the powder. Don’t forget that the baking soda will activate an effervescent effect, which will increase if you pour all the product at once.

Third step

Stir with a spoon and make sure all the ingredients have dissolved well. After that, add the drops of your favorite essential oil to give the fabric softener a better aroma.

Fourth step

Put the fabric softener in the washing machine, just like you do with the industrial one.

Fifth step

Run the washing machine as you always do, put the clothes on to hang out and you will immediately notice the difference.
