Sport is ideal for achieving balance between mind and body. But if you don’t have time to enroll in a specialized center, a good solution could be to set up a home gym. It may seem complicated, but you will find that it is very simple if you follow the 4 steps that we will show you in today’s article.

The daily tram tram does not leave much time for body care, and we tend to focus all our attention and energy on work and home.

However, there are several ways to play sports and keep fit. With a home gym it will be even easier. Home is not just for resting!

Daily training

Any physical change is based on four major pillars: motivation, training, nutrition and rest. Motivation is essential to train properly, this is where you have to start to train at home.

Obviously, in a normal gym, there are a series of elements and tools that allow you to develop an optimal sports circuit. We can choose between treadmills, exercise bikes, weights or multifunctional benches and be followed to carry out a correct and effective workout.

But if you don’t have time to go to a specialized center, you can set up your own gym at home; you just have to dedicate the right time to training and motivate yourself by drawing up a program.

The first thing to establish is a goal, such as weight loss or tone. You don’t have to be competitive sportsmen to devote time to sport and increase your physical endurance.

You can start by doing a cardiovascular activity, such as running or cycling. Any option is valid, because in any case you will be helping to improve your physical well-being.

Organizing a home gym is simple and you can use everyday objects. Below we present some tips to create your space and train a little every day.

Courage! Leave the routine and train at home!

Elements you can use to build your home gym

1. Yoga mat or mat

A simple object, such as a mat, can be the starting point for creating your home gym.

The mat or mat is a useful element for training at home : you can use it to practice yoga or perform exercises to tone the muscles. It should be comfortable and soft to cushion any falls and avoid injury.

With a mat you can perform push-ups, abdominals and exercises lying on the floor. In addition, you can practice all those exercises aimed at toning the abdomen, back and legs.

It is a fundamental element to consolidate sports practice at home. Also, it is very important when you lie down on the ground, so that you do not rest your back directly on the floor. Be careful! Even if you are at home, you can get hurt if you try too hard. This is where the mat comes into play.

2. Choose a large space

An open space is the best place for a home gym.

If you have decided to set up a home gym, choose a large space such as the living room or a room where there is no furniture that can interfere with your workout. If you have chairs or tables that do not leave enough space, move them, you have to carry out the training without interruptions or bumps.

Your home gym  will be a personal space that you will have to adapt to your liking, to fully enjoy your workout.

Training without constraints is the essential condition to perform more in the exercises. At home you have many sources of distraction, such as the television or the sofa, do not think about it and focus only on the exercises.

3. Homemade weights

To tone your arms, you can build real homemade weights, essential tools for your workout. Lifting weights is an important part of exercise – it strengthens the biceps, triceps, and pectoral muscles.

There are several options available to “build” weights:

  • You can fill medium-sized plastic bottles with rice or sand. This way you will have weights that you can attach to a pole or bar.
  • Another option is to  fill cans with sand or concrete and attach them to a metal pipe. You will get a heavier but useful barbell for increasing endurance and having strong arms.

4. Stool or chair

To train at home, you only need a chair.

In the house we all have  stools, benches or low chairs. They are all ideal elements for practicing many exercises that need a support base.

One option is to do push-ups on the elbows, placing the hands on a chair; this exercise will be particularly effective for developing arm muscles.

A stool can also serve as a base for the step or to go up and down stairs. This exercise is ideal for strengthening the legs and calves. Its effect will be immediate. You just have to go up with one leg and then with the other; when you are on top, go down and start over.

As you have seen, these are all simple elements that will help you transform an unused space into a home gym. You have no more excuses not to train and dedicate a few minutes to your body.
