To turn perfume bottles into ornaments, just let your imagination fly. What color are they? What shape do they have? What can they be combined with? Do you want to collect them together, as a collection or separately in specific places?

Once you start thinking about what you’d like to do with them, where to place them, how to customize them and so on, you can define a process and a project.

Don’t worry if you discard several ideas at first. The important thing is that you take the time to decide what to do with the bottles you already have and which ones you could get.

In case you run out of ideas, don’t worry. We also propose some of them, so that you can put them into practice.

Also, think about the fact that with this manual work you will combine both the pleasure of creating and the possibility of recycling objects that you no longer use.

Perfume bottles as planters

One of the simplest ways to recycle perfume bottles as decor items is to turn them into planters or vases.  Follow these simple steps:

  1. Choose the bottle you want to change.
  2. Remove the cap and the vaporizer if present.
  3. Introduce the flowers inside taking into account the size of the opening of the bottle.
  4. Pour in some water to keep them fresh for longer.

Another option is to put flowers on it, and, for allergic people, use dried flowers to last as long as you like.

Terrariums

As long as the bottle allows it, you can make a small terrarium with decorative elements, such as stones, sand or pictures.

The simplest thing is to use artificial flowers, as this way you don’t have to worry about taking care of them. Another possibility is to add water to it and make an underwater terrarium.

As you can see, there are many ideas for creating terrariums. In this way and with little effort, you can create unique objects to decorate the rooms.

Air freshener

If you like your home to always smell clean, your best bet is to recycle the perfume bottles to create mikado-style air fresheners.

You can create organic air fresheners to avoid the toxic products released by those generally found on the market.

Flask of lavender
The bottles of perfume and cologne can be reused in different ways to make decorative objects.

For this we will teach you how to create an air freshener that emits a natural scent, using few materials. To get started, you will need:

  • Alcohol.
  • Water.
  • Essential oil (to your liking).
  • Wicker or bamboo sticks

Preparation

  1. Prepare the mixture  in a bowl or glass jar.
  2. Then, pour two parts of alcohol into each part of water, then add a few drops of essential oil.
  3. You can also add pieces of lemon or orange peel, or, if you prefer, some aromatic herbs such as lavender, rosemary, thyme or mint, for example.
  4. Pour it into the bottle carefully (help yourself with a funnel if necessary). Finally, introduce the sticks.

If you do not find those that usually accompany air fresheners in the packages sold in stores, you can use the sticks that are used to chop the meat, or to make the skewers of meat and vegetables, and cut the tip.

The fragrance  will begin to soak into the wood and will be released. However, remember to turn the sticks upside down every now and then so that the fragrance is renewed and does not lose its aroma.

Perfume bottles as decoration

If you want them to keep their great initial look, here are a few simple ideas:

  • You can fill the inside with colored water,  using food coloring or even diluting the color you like best.
  • Or paint the outside  to give it a personal touch.
  • Or even add  glitter , glitter or pearls inside.
  • If you have a silicone gun,  attach decorative motifs such as strings or colored balls to the bottle  to make it more original.
  • Cross ribbons and cords  of different sizes and colors in the most disparate directions.

Decorate them according to your tastes and the style of your home (or both). This way, you will enjoy the process even more. You can also opt for an eclectic decoration, without following any combinations.

In any case, the important thing is that you give vent to your imagination to transform something so simple (like old perfume bottles) into real works of art.
